Moving from a very large security company, to a very small, unheard of company definitely had many challenges, but I feel like my efforts made this company better financially, operationally, and administratively. I think my efforts built a framework and structure that will set them up for growth and success, all while providing a better service to the customers and community as a whole. Without a doubt, the category is occupied with unbelievable talent and great security companies, and I am humbled to be mentioned in the same conversation with these professionals”.

Outstanding Security Team

The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security – Michigan Medicine

The Michigan Medicine Security Team believes that a comprehensive, multi-faceted security program is most effective when it reduces risk and alleviates the anxiety in hospital neighbourhoods.  MMS’s success is based on three key factors: trust, training, and technology. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, they drew on these factors as staff took on new and varied roles to safeguard critical supplies, promote and enforce compliance with new infection control standards, collaborate with clinical leadership to prepare for an influx of COVID-19 cases, and protect Michigan Medicine’s ability to provide care for over a million patients.  Judges felt that the team had demonstrated a comprehensive approach in handling all safety and security matters.

This award means so much to the Michigan Medicine family and our DPSS team. Now more than ever, violence in healthcare is a very real problem, with 75% of all violence in any workplace occurring in a healthcare setting. DPSS Michigan Medicine uses the three pillars of Trust, Training, and Technology to ensure people are kept safe and, just as important, feel safe.
